Choosing the right hair oil for you

Choosing the right hair oil for your unique hair type

Are you trying to find the right oil blend for your unique hair texture? We can help you out with that. Below we have listed our 3 main hair oil blends, unique to KAW. With each blend we will list out which hair texture is ideal for that blend. It also comes down to personal preference and which herbs you intuitively feel are best for you.

Scalp health blend of Juniper, Lemonbalm, Yarrow- This blend is ideal for all hair types. It is for anyone who deals with scalp imbalances such as excess oil production, itchy and irritated scalp, dandruff, psoriasis, etc. It is also good to see a medical health professional if you have a severe case of psoriasis or skin dis-ease. This blend also may assist with hair growth. It holds more astringent herbs, so not ideal so be applying on ends of hair (not bad either). This is more of a scalp treatment blend. :)

Hair growth blend of Rosemary, Peppermint, Blue lotus- This blend is ideal for all hair types. This blend is very powerful and invigorating leaving the crown of your hair singing. If you have any scalp imbalances this blend will also be very soothing. With herbal hair growth powerhouses, this blend is for anyone whose hair goal is growth while remaining healthy and strong.

Growth and Hydration blend of Nettle, Hibiscus, Horsetail, Elderflower- This blend is ideal for fine or dry hair, but can work with all hair types because of its lightweight yet hydrating nature. Nettle and Horsetail both contain silica which is amazing for hair growth and overall scalp & hair health. If you have experienced hair loss, this blend can be supportive in promoting new hairs to grow. The herbs in this blend are very hydrating, so can help leave your hair feeling smooth and shiny. This blend is ideal for someone who wants to use hair oil on their ends daily.

A reminder that our liquid hair oil DOES NOT moisturize on its own. These oils are more for scalp treatments and keeping hair healthy and strong. If you are needing deep moisture, I recommend our Hydrating Hair Masque. <3

ACV rinse

Apple Cider Vinegar hair rinse

Is your hair feeling dull, static-y, limp, and a little sad?

Apple Cider Vinegar is your new best friend! :)

Build-up in our hair is completely normal, and everyone experiences it. It can be caused by hard water, product use, or environmental pollutants. Build up can feel like you didn’t fully wash out the product from your hair or an extra oily scalp. It can also make your hair harder to style.

Removing build-up is simple, all you need is 1/4 cup of ACV! There are many clarifying shampoos out there, but most of them are filled with chemicals that you really do not need.

While showering, pour the 1/4 cup of ACV diluted with spring or distilled water over your scalp and massage into hair. Let sit for 5-10 minutes. Shampoo twice to remove vinegar smell and WAH-LAH your hair is transformed! Magic :)

Apple Cider Vinegar resets the Ph of our scalp removing any and all build-up leaving your hair silky smooth, shiny, and strong.

You can also infuse herbs into the ACV for a moon cycle like Nettle, Lavender or Rosemary for the ultimate ACV rinse. :)

Cheers!

Pro Tips for Hair Oiling

Here are a few tips to hair oiling so that your hair receives the best care while using our product:

Applying hair oil once a week as a scalp treatment ritual will give you the most optimal results. (see previous Insight post for instructions on how to do scalp treatment)

Applying hair oil to damp ends is the most ideal as damp hair helps to keep moisture in the hair.

Hair oil does NOT moisturize hair, so it is ideal to also use a humectant or deep conditioner alongside our hair oil.

Hair oil does strengthen hair and scalp, promote hair growth, increase shine, revive natural texture, detangle hair, and improves overall health.

Every few months hair can become limp and dry from build up of oil, other products, and environmental pollutants. This is when it is ideal to do an Apple Cider Vinegar rinse to completely reset the PH balance of hair and clarify the product out of hair.

Hair Oil Ritual

Hair Oil Ritual

Perform this oil once a week for most desired results.

Fill a dropper full of oil and place drops of oil all around parted sections of your scalp. You may need to do a couple of droppers to cover your whole head. Massage oil into scalp. While massaging oil in, think or speak out loud loving affirmations to your hair. After massaging you can add oil throughout your mid-lengths and ends if you’d like and then braid hair to really let the oil penetrate. If your hair is too short to braid, you could put on a scarf! Leave oil in for a minimum of 30 minutes.

To cleanse oil from hair shampoo twice before conditioning. Every season change (3 months) add an apple cider vinegar rinse to your routine. Pour 1/4 cup of ACV over hair in the shower and rinse. Shampoo twice before conditioning. ACV resets the PH balance of your scalp and leaves your hair silky shiny. In combination with the hair oil your hair will be so happy. :)
